Skye's Story...
Hi guys, my name is Skye! A pretty name for a pretty girl. I am a young, spayed female pup in need of a forever home. I am only 7 months old. I am a wonderful dog, very friendly and happy. I love car rides and I walk on a leash very well. I am smart and I aim to please. I am housetrained and non destructive. I am also super cute. I will use my front paws like hands to hold things and I use my head to open doors that are partially ajar. I love to jump on the bed and watch the world outside the window, and I do it quietly. I'm not one of those dogs barking at everything that moves. I'm a good girl. A few of my hobbies are taking long walks and playing fetch. I am also totally in love with my squeaky toys. I have been around other animals. Although I ignore the community cats hanging around outside, I want to chase bunnies and squirrels in the yard. I initiate play with other dogs and would probably enjoy having a buddy. When I meet new people, I am smiling with tail wagging. I think people are the best and I love it when they play with me. I weigh about 50 lbs. If you think I might be the right dog for you, please apply today and we'll schedule a meet-n-greet. So, prepare to fall in love! Adoption fee: $75. Adopt a pair: $115. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 60 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip.

Adoption and Foster Care Application

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Skye, a Troy American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in Troy, or seeking a American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
