Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This handsome, 8-9 year old boy is Sam. Sam is a special boy who unfortunately has been going through a lot recently. We were so excited to get this gentle soul out of the shelter, but the fight is not yet over.
As soon as Sam arrived at our vet’s office, we found out that he was heartworm positive with a more advanced stage. Then, he started showing symptoms of kennel cough, which he likely picked up from the shelter. We immediately started medication to treat both so that Sam could be on his way to recovery. Sadly, his body had an unexpected reaction to the medication and this caused some injury to Sam’s liver. We are now working round the clock to get Sam’s liver values back to normal and ensure that we get Sam to good health. We absolutely hate that all of this has happened to this sweet boy and will do all in our power to make it right.
Understandably, Sam was confused and anxious when he first came to the vet’s office, but with plenty of good food/treats and lots of cuddles, Sam has come out of his shell and is showing us what a trooper he really is. Even though he doesn’t feel the greatest, he has been taking it all in stride and still makes us smile everyday. He loves to stick his tongue out for pictures!
Sam is blind in his right eye but it doesn’t seem to bother him at all. He is a calm dog who already knows some commands and would make an excellent companion for someone once he is feeling better.
As we have done all we can so far, the cost of his treatment and care has quickly added up, and we are now asking for your help to help us save Sam. Any and all contribution, no matter how much you are able to give, would be a massive help to LFS in this effort and so so appreciated. We wouldn’t be able to continue to save lives without the amazing support that all of you so graciously provide us.
