Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET SPIKE!!! Spike is a 4-5 years old lab mix who has a mellow personality and a tail that is always wagging! He is one of our “Saved 6” from a shelter in Alabama. Spike is getting checked out by our veterinarian and will then will need a foster home when he gets the ‘all clear’. Spike is a friendly boy who gets along with other dogs. Stay tuned as we learn more about him in the coming days!
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Spike, please complete an adoption application, or if you are already approved please email labfriendinfo@gmail.com.
FOSTER UPDATE 05/16: We’ve been fostering Spike for about a week now and he’s a wonderful boy. He is fully house-trained and has excellent manners. Very little barking, no “counter surfing”, chewing, etc… We estimate he weighs between 50 and 60 pounds. He appears to be mostly Labrador in his appearance and he behaves just like a lab.
Spike just wants to be loved on and would probably get up on the couch and snuggle, if we let him. He’s quite playful, but also very calm, preferring to just lay on his bed or at your feet waiting for a belly rub. He’s somewhat food motivated. He walks very well on a leash, with no pulling or lunging. He knows sit and stay.
Spike interacts very well with our dog and with other neighborhood dogs we meet on our walks and has shown no signs of aggressiveness. We have two small, energetic children in our home, a two year old and an eight month old, and Spike has been nothing but gentle and sweet with them. He loves to play with them and gives lots of kisses, to their delight.
We believe Spike would do well with a range of owners, from single folks to busy families and everyone in between. Basically, he just wants to be around his people and be part of the family. Spike is a GREAT dog!
