Facts about Buster

  • Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix
  • Color: Brindle - With White
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Buster is one of the most interesting dogs to come through Redwood Pals Rescue. He has demonstrated strong skills that could be used for animal tracking or other detection duties,and has been working with a handler trained in tracking. The market for those skills is a little soft right now and so we are looking for a home for Buster. Buster's foster describes him as having a very gentle spirit, an ability to play fetch for hours, impressive recall, and no desire to run off He is good company in the yard or garden and is respectful to the resident female dog.Buster also loves to swim! He would make a great companion for another larger dog that also loves to play. Buster is gentle with all living things but might be too energetic for small children. He has shown no interest in chickens and is good with cats and dogs. Buster has not been oriented to the inside of a house, but he displays very nice manners and cleanliness in his garage kennel. He would probably be relatively easy to crate train. Buster would love a country home with some room to chase balls and maybe a creek to play in! He is a very loyal companion and could be an impressive competitor for scent work or other tracking competitions.

About Redwood Pals Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Redwood Pals Rescue was formed to keep the euthanasia rate low at our local county shelter which is a kill facility. We are an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to support rescue and adoption efforts of animals that are at risk in the Humboldt County Animal Shelter.

Some of the things we do:
* rescue animals in danger of being euthanized at the Humboldt County Animal Shelter

* place rescued animals into permanent adoptive homes;

* facilitate transportation of rescue animals to out-of-area rescue organizations, fosterers, and adoptive homes;

* train/rehabilitate rescue animals to facilitate their placement into permanent adoptive homes;

* to provide temporary foster of shelter animals with medical needs to facilitate their placement into permanent adoptive homes;

* provide educational outreach to promote the adoption of shelter and rescue animals as pets;

* improve the quality of life for animals at the Humboldt County Animal Shelter;

* encourage and facilitate proper veterinary care including vaccinations, spaying and neutering;

We always need: Donations! which can be sent to our P.O. Box or through Razoo. Fosters! We do not have a shelter of our own but instead rely on kennel space for our rescue dogs at the shelter (when it isn't full) or with our network of foster homes. We sometimes have to emergency board dogs to save their lives. We would rather have them in a foster home. Volunteers! if you are interested in volunteering let us know. We are a small group and could always use more help.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Call or email if you would like to meet any of our rescue animals and we can make arrangements.

Our Adoption Process...

We have an adoption application and require an home visit and references. Our adoption fee for dogs is $175 which covers spay/neuter, vaccinations, and other medical treatment. This fee can be negotiated depending on circumstances.
