My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a mosaic female chinchilla that is looking for her new home. She came to NWI a bit ago, and we have down that she was born around 12/22/16. This makes her right around 5 months old, and now is a perfect time for you to take her home and make her part of your family! In fact, the only reason she’s still here is because we’ve had a number of people not show up for their appointments where they’re supposed to come take her home, when they had her on hold… but we know you’ll love her and show up right away!

This girl’s color is called mosaic, which is basically a white chinchilla with greyish markings. As you can see from her pictures, she’s an absolute poofball… mostly white with just a bit of grey, most noticeably on her tail and a little on her face.

She is a super sweet girl. She’s very outgoing, and we just love her! Fluffy and cuddly, and a very nice chin! She does great with being handled and petted, and will sit pretty nicely in your arms for you to pet her. Very sweet girl. Doesn’t bite.

This girl is a slight fur chewer. It’s minor enough that she doesn’t do it all the time, and it’s hard to see in pictures, but from time to time she will chew her fur. This is only cosmetic in nature, and is not a health concern – it’s similar to a human biting their fingernails, as a bad habit. It will not affect her in the future, except that you might notice a little chewing on her hips, from time to time.

This chinchilla is currently living alone, and we do not know if she gets along with other chinchillas. If you are curious as to whether she might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla would make a great “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324).

The adoption fee for this mosaic female chinchilla is $200
