Blacky's Story...
What a character Blacky is! This 10 month old German shepherd is full of personality and is ready to meet a new family. Blacky came to us from our Newark facility after he was turned in due to landlord issues. This strikingly handsome guy is very puppyish and silly, but such a sweet boy. He is very outgoing and once he's had a minute or two to check you out, he'll be your best friend for life. Blacky has had some training and will sit nicely when asked, is very gentle with taking treats and toys, and walks well on a leash. He is a little mouthy from time to time, as puppies are, but responds well to correction. Once Blacky gets out his initial energy, he turns into a real lovebug that will mush against you and gaze at you for attention. Unfortunately he is not a fan of small dogs or cats, but he can meet larger dogs and see how they get along. Blacky would love an active family that will give him playtime, exercise, and take him on adventures. If you can give him that, come in and meet Blacky! File#27351 6/4/17

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Blacky, a Forked River German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Forked River, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
