I found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.

I am up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

When Axel's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Kansas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Axel tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Terrier is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Axel became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future.

At just 12 - 18 months old and 12 lbs, this very adorable pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Axel to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it.

Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Axel and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success!

Axel always gets lots of attention when he's out and about with his rescuer...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he has been identified as a Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier.. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy Terrier that's irresistible!

When Axel turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Axel's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for either active retirees for Axel (he would be overjoyed with being the center of a loving family and the amount of time spent together). Axel would also be great with a younger family with dog-crazy kids. Axel, once bonded, will be a loyal best friend who would love nothing more than time together or socializing with friends. Axel would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 12 lbs, even a very well-adjusted puppy can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs
Axel is so grateful being out of the shelter that there's almost a smile on his cuter than cute face. He is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Axel's rescuer is very happy to report that Axel is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Axel will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life.

Axel is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a puppy like Axel is often overlooked in this city with too many dogs and not enough vets. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Axel to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Axel will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 6/27/17 . Applications are being accepted and can be found at If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly guy, please fill out and return to, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Axel-ADOPTION PENDING, a Boulder Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier for sale in Boulder, or seeking a Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier dog from a breeder in Boulder.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boulder already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boulder breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier breeders who help with Cairn Terrier/Border Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boulder paves the way for another one to be saved.
