My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PeeWee is a 14.2 pound(at the time of his neuter on 6/28/2017) chihuahua. He was found as a stray and after a few weeks of finding him and searching for his owner, the man who found him brought him to us. We also attempted to locate his owner without success so now PeeWee is searching for a new home and family. PeeWee is the perfect size for a family who wants small but not too small. He is a sturdy little boy and would do great with older children after an initial adjustment as he tends to be a bit shy and unsure at first. He does warm up quickly though and enjoys attention. PeeWee did test positive for heartworms at his vet visit so we will be starting him on ivermectin (a micofilaricide) which will kill any babies and will eventually kill the adults because they will not be able to reproduce and continue the life cycle. PeeWee's new owner will need to continue with his treatment monthly until he has a negative heartworm test. Although heartworms can be scary if left untreated, they can be successfully treated with the ivermectin and relatively inexpensively as well (it costs no more than regular preventative every month and we hope that new owners would keep their dog current on their prevention each month). PeeWee is a nice boy who just wants a family. He will make a nice traveling companion and will also do well as a lap dog-watching TV with you and enjoying the time you are able to spend together. PeeWee will fit into any home environment. PeeWee's adoption fee is $200 and will help to cover his vetting and cost of care while with us. If interested in giving PeeWee his forever home, please submit your interest and application via email or call us @(352)493-1255 to learn more about PeeWee or to set up a meet and greet with him. If you have any questions about HW treatment or ivermectin, please feel free to ask.
