Bailey could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's also no question that Bailey would do well with very gentle older kids who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Bailey's family because we know that he enjoys order and quiet. He also just appears to be much more comfortable with the energy of older folks.
Bailey does love playing (once he's comfortable) and is entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and the love he wants to show to everyone he knows well who has been kind to him. Bailey's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter....but who could ignore his adorable face and the cutest underbite you've ever seen? Bailey is initially fearful but give him some time (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss.
The awesome Texas rescuers recognized all of this in Bailey and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Bailey was recognized for the gifts and love he can bring to a committed family once he's comfortable in their care.
Bailey would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's such a loving pup once he bonds.. and is so portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Bailey's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Bailey to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.
Bailey's potentially beautiful coat has been sadly ignored. Bailey is a non-shedding pup who is considered one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today. He therefore requires a committment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
Bailey will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 7/3/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and loving companion who just needs a little bit of time to overcome his shyness and be the most engaging and loving guy around.
