Here's what the humans have to say about me:
😍🐾🌟Hi there! My name is Marley – and I love life now! You see, I’m around 2.5 years old – not really sure, because no one celebrated my birthday before. One day someone came and picked me out of the litter, took me from my mom and siblings, and took me home – I was excited… I thought I was the lucky one – but boy was I wrong!! They tied me to a plastic thing called an igloo, on a chain, and told me that was my new house. What did I do to deserve this? I had no friends, no one to play with and it was cold, oh so cold. I was afraid, cold and alone. My water bowl was usually empty or frozen over, and I didn’t get fed regularly… but boy did I get excited when they came my way – I hoped they were coming to pet me, and tell me I was a good boy – but that didn’t happen. Sometimes they threw food just inside my circle, so I had to eat it off the ground.
Then one day, these really nice people came – and they started spending time with me – and walking me and brushing me – and I LOVED IT! I love attention. I love being told I’m a good boy. I try really hard. I’m now living in a great house, with other dogs and cats – and I love them all. I love to run and play. I truly love being part of the family… but they aren’t my forever family – they keep telling me that one day I’m going to get my forever family, and they are going to love me, and take care of me forever. And I’ll never ever be lonely, or tied to a dog house again.
I do pull on the leash when we are walking, but that’s because I’m so excited – and there’s so much to see, and so many people to meet – I want to do it so quickly, that I forget not to pull… but I’m working on it. And they said I could go to school for that – so maybe you’d take me to school when you adopt me?? Legacy said they’d pay for the class! They’ve been so good to me – I’ve got a bed, and nylabones.. I love nylabones! I would love an active family – because I think there’s so much more for me to see and experience!! And I’d love a doggie friend and a fence that we could race around it… oh, if only my dreams can come true…. I’m going to wish upon a star tonight, and every night until it does.
Love,
Marley
PS- I am heartworm positive, but my treatment is covered by Legacy and a very nice sponsor. I'm undergoing treatment now.
Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1 1/2 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $50.00 of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.
