My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dusty would be a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for a very sweet and loving lap dog that can accompany his family everywhere a great little dog is allowed. He's also social and would be thrilled with neighborhood walks..stopping periodically to talk with dog-loving neighbors.

At just about 8 months old and 12 lbs (anticipated to be about 14 lbs when full grown), Dusty is so portable that he can be a full-time best friend..not only a great lap dog but a guy who would love car rides to fun places...mountain trails, parks and playing with other dogs would be high on Dusty's list. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments...as well as so very cute...end up in precarious situations. It just doesn't get much cuter than Dusty's scruffy Terrier face with the sweet, loving eyes.

Dusty was a last-minute save for us...he could have been euthanized in a dismal Kansas shelter due to lack of space if a kind Kansas rescuer hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is just so awesome with his whole life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family.

Dusty, as a very young guy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area), Dusty will learn great behavior and be a very loyal and bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart!

Dusty may be frightened initially at transport since rehoming is scary ..but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine We envision Dusty with an active and patient retired couple or individual...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that Dusty is a needy guy...not at all...he just enjoys the company of his humans who love him like crazy for all his wonderful traits.

Dusty likes children and enjoys playing with them...but we would only be open to older kids who can be gentle and understanding that Dusty is a small pup and needs soft and gentle handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery, Dusty would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk together, fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air, so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then, maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with treats, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people.

Dusty is either a non-shedding or lightly shedding guy (hard to tell until his sad shelter hair grows out) and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free.

Dusty will be arriving in Denver unfixed due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this very poor area of Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Dusty's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Dusty will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Tuesday 8/1/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
