Lima's Story...
$20 ADOPTION FEES: ALL ADULT DOGS AND CATS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST!

Hi ya! My name is Lima, Adriana Lima. I hear there is a model named after me. Not only am I a beautiful, young puppy, I am smart too! I know how to sit and stay on command. I am working hard to learn how to shake, and my humans say a new family could teach me quickly! I am very happy and affectionate towards all humans, and live for pets - especially butt scratches. I love to play with toys, and will work hard for treats! That I take from your hand very gently, I might add. When another dog barked at me, I offered him a play bow through my door to say, "Oh hey there, Friend! Wanna play?" Other than that, my humans have not seen me much with other animals, but I'd love to meet any other pets you might have! Wanna come meet me? Just apply today. Adoption fee: $20. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 60 days of free pet insurance, one session with a behavior trainer and microchip.

Apply online: www.pawsforliferescue.org. Complete this form and a volunteer will contact you to answer questions and to schedule a meet-n-greet.

Adoption and Foster Care Application

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lima, a Troy Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Staffordshire Bull Terrier for sale in Troy, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Staffordshire Bull Terrier breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Staffordshire Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
