My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi fans! My name is Shotgun, but you have probably already heard of me since I’ve just gotten back from the 2017 Beagle Olympics where I took the gold medal for Counter Surfing! I was so proud to represent my breed with this trait that I’ve mastered. What does a beagle like me do now after all of this glory and fame? Well…. work on my vocal skills of course! My manager, aka foster mom, has given me the stage name “Sir Barks A Lot”!I bet a lot of ladies out there will like the smooth “Arrrooooosss” I can belt!

During my Olympic hiatus, I signed on with Midwest BREW for their 5-star rescue services because as life goes…. things changed for me. My family had a baby and decided they didn’t have enough time for me any longer. I don’t let crazy decisions like that get me down! I moved in with my foster mom and two foster beagle sisters.

The accommodations are nice and I am a perfect houseguest! I easily go in my crate and stay there while my foster mom works. She has left me out of the crate also and I have been very good with run of the house. I have also offered up my guard dog services while I am here. Since I like doing this job my foster mom doesn’t think an apartment/condo would work for me as a forever home. I do listen well – IF I hear foster mom over my arrrrooooss!Foster mom has been working on me to use my inside voice and to be quieter. She has been rewarding me with the Kong (I love it stuffed with canned pumpkin!) and I also get praise and treats when I am quiet. We kind of make a game out of it and I am learning! I guess I do get attention when I am quiet - who knew?!

More about me - I always potty outside and have had no accidents. I get along with everyone and I like to cuddle and be close, mostly with humans. So far my only complaint is that I have to share the toys here with foster sis. I love toys; especially rope toys! I like to play tug and fetch, except in fetch I tend to forget the rules and keep the toy! Good times! And no squeaker stands a chance around me! Squeakers you have been warned!

Foster mom thinks I’m a very good boy and for being 8 years young I am pretty energetic. My foster sisters are seniors and don’t play much, so more activity would be just fine with me! I love daily play time and walks. I can help you sculpt your upper body because I’m strong and can pull on the leash while we smell the roses.

I hope I made you smile and if you adopt me I will continue to do so! I’m a happy beagle just showing off typical beagle traits, no harm done. At the end of the day I will be super happy to see you and I will fill your heart with love when I curl up in your lap or in your arms.

Contact my agency (Midwest BREW) and ask for the star of the show, Shotgun!

NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
