Whenever a sweet Shih Tzu/Poodle mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that pups of this breed mix are very loving and intelligent. They also fit well into a family...and make great companions and the ultimate lap dogs.

Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine. Sparrow is just about 18 - 24 months old...such a great age - young enough to be fun, active and adventurous, yet old enough to understand adult skills. Sparrow weighs 16 lbs..a great size for hiking during the day & being the greatest lap dog at day's end. Sparrow will always gently express her love with her loyalty and sweetness.

Sparrow's foster mom had the following to say about her sweet girl:
I was the lucky one that fostered Sparrow before her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! Once comfortable, she is the world's greatest cuddle bug! I have 3 other dogs and 2 teenagers.. Sparrow did absolutely fine with them. She didn't want to play much with my dogs because she usually chose to be with her humans... either curled up on our laps or cuddling on the couch. Sparrow is super, super sweet!! She chose to sleep on our bed and had no issues at all. She slept like a log all night!. I'll cry like a baby when I drop her off for transport to Colorado but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's!

Sparrow has inherited the great intelligence of the Poodle breed along with the curiosity and loving ways of the Shih Tzu ...she is therefore very open for her family to teach her the wonders of her world. If Sparrow is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident dog who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Sparrow in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member.

Sparrow will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute Shih Tzu mix. Sparrow would love hiking the trails of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy the mountain paths), window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Sparrow will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will always return

Sparrow has a beautiful, non-shedding coat. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great add-on for Sparrow). With this regimen, she will develop the cottony-soft, shining hair of a healthy, well-cared for coat.

Sparrow won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of . Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Jazzy's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used.
