My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From Ruby's foster parents: Ruby is an approximately 8 year old, beautiful chocolate and white beagle girl. Because of her pretty looks she was used to breed puppies and was neglected. After she could no longer have puppies she was dumped at an animal shelter, no longer wanted. We've been fostering Ruby for 2 months and she is a very happy and sweet girl who loves everyone she meets. She is very devoted to us and follows us from room to room and will lie close by. When we got Ruby she was very overweight at 39 lb. With short legs, she is low to the ground and that was just too much weight for her. She's been on a diet, goes on daily walks and has lost 6 lbs. When we first started waking her she could barely make it to the corner and back but now she goes full steam ahead around a big block. She LOVES to walk and she gets so excited when we get her leash out. She checks everything out with her nose during our walks and tries to get everyone that passes us to stop and pet her. She loves attention. We believe Ruby lived her life outside as she was not housetrained when we got her but we've worked hard with her and she now knows how to use our doggie door and knows to potty outside. She loves to lie out in the sun on the patio. When we come home from work each day she is always outside lying on our patio sunning herself. For this reason we feel she’d do best with a family that has a fenced in yard so she can spend plenty of time outside lounging. She gets along great with the other dogs in the house. We dogsit so there are dogs of all sizes coming and going. Our other foster dog, Sammy, and Ruby have become great buddies. If you are looking for two dogs they would make a great pair. But Ruby will get along with any other dogs or she'd be fine as an only dog. Ruby likes to go bye bye and rides great in acar. She stands still for a bath, sheds very little and her coat is very soft.We seldom hear her bark. When Ruby is very happy she smiles. It's the cutest thing ever. She will roll on her back for a belly rub. She enjoys her soft toys too. She has a favorite pink one that she takes outside with her each day. We both work and are gone 9 hours a day. Ruby does not need to be crated as she is a good girl while we are gone. She doesn't even get on our furniture or our bed even though she is allowed. She doesn’t chew anything up and she doesn’t dig holes in our yard or try to escape. At night she sleeps on a dog bed in our bedroom by our bed. Ruby had her teeth cleaned and had a few small ones extracted so we keep her on a small kibble. She also had a couple fatty masses removed. She is all healed and the vet gave her a clean bill of health.

If you’d like to talk to us about adorable Ruby please contact Midwest Brew today and find out how!
