Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Cali.
Her Foster Dad shares this with you about Calliope. Cali for short.
She was abandoned in a parking lot. She was a bit traumatized when we first got her. As time has gone by, she has improved. Sometimes she still seems a little spacey. We had her eyes examined and there are no problems there. We cannot rule out neurological issues, however they do not seem to be problematic. When Cali gets too enthusiastic, putting her in her kennel calms her down quite effectively. She's a chewer. She has two canine roommates, one of them is blind. She enjoys aggravating him. We think she thinks they're playing, so there's no problem here. He'll just walk away. If she keeps it up, he's learned how to discourage her. She will be fine with other dogs. She walks well on a leash. She loves to sunbathe. She will serenade you with her howling when she is moved to do so. She sleeps in her kennel. Cali enjoys the dog park. She is a delightful young lady.
Her Foster Mom adds to her story:
She is learning to be a cuddlier. Her vision is good but she seems to look through you at times. Has a special way of walking. Enjoys chew toys and we encourage them when she wants to play and others don’t. She is too restless to sleep in our bed, but has come a long way since she arrived and will take naps with you if things are calm. Recommend using a “bra” harness with a leash. She doesn’t like things over her head. She often will go to the door when she needs to go, but might not always go on command outside. Be patient and wait her out. She always goes with a praise and using the potty words. She has a unique potty dance and is used to being wiped down after being outside. She will rearrange your tennis shoes for you. Her howling indicates displeasure about something but we just wait her out and try not to talk baby to her while she is working through this action. She seems to enjoy being loved and kissed and told that she is a good girl. Just recently, she has joined the pack in meeting us at the door when we come in from being gone. We only crate her for correction and sleeping at night. The word “No Cali” used with a finger snap, seems to get her attention and stops the misbehavior. She enjoys sleeping where ever the other pack members are not. She eats with the pack and is not food aggressive. She has a unique eating habit that will grow on you. She likes for you to be near her when she starts, but will finish on her own. When you correct her, she may chew on herself afterwards. Maybe nervous energy. She gets along with children that respect her space and love and care for her with parental overview.
Cali is UTD on shots, spayed and HW and Flea preventative.
Cali weighs around 5 pounds. She's about two years old.
