My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this. Stewy is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with his caretaker in Oakdale, CA. Born 4/20/2013, M, Marble Bengal

September 14 update: We just received a great update with some new pictures from Stewy’s caretaker and wanted to add this information to his bio: He’s eating Evo dry mixed with wet food 2 to 3x per day. He already looks much healthier and she thinks he has gained weight. This cat loves water and will play in the sink with it if you let him. He is playing more and is gaining confidence. If he sees other cats, his hair stands on end and he hisses, yet she can pick him up and hold him with no issues. Stewy loves to sit in the window. He is not super vocal unless he wants food or to be petted. As he is filling out you can see he is a well-bred fellow. These pictures are all new with the exception of the cover shot and the last picture. We kept the last picture in his bio to show how skinny he looked when he first came to his caretaker.

When you read Stewy’s story, you may want to have a box of Kleenex close by. His original owner bought him from a breeder. He is a registered marble Bengal, but during all of the transitions--but let’s call it what it was, he was bounced around a lot--his papers are no longer available. His original owner must have loved him very much. You’ll find out why we suspect that when you continue reading his bio.

What we have been able to glean is due to her failing health, his original owner had to move in with her son in Southern California. The son apparently didn’t want her to keep Stewy, so she gave her beloved cat to one of her friends. After she passed away, that friend passed him on to another person, who in turn passed him on to an animal lover/rescuer in Northern California. That lady contacted our organization (Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue) and asked for our assistance because of her and her husband’s own very sad health situation.

Thankfully, we found a wonderful lady who will be adopting another Bengal from our organization and who offered to take care of Stewy until a permanent home can be found for him. Meanwhile, she will be providing this sweet boy with some much needed, high quality nutrition because it was very apparent when she took him in that he has been lacking an appropriate diet. He is on the skinny side, as can be seen in the last picture, but with some Bengal-appropriate food, we expect he’ll bounce back in no time.

What we were initially told is that Stewy doesn’t like to be touched and he will hiss and swat at a person until he knows that person. Since he has been with his caretaker, she is astonished at how loving this little cat is. She says he is like a monkey in that he climbs up on her shoulder and on top of her head. He is really funny, super sweet, and almost overpowering in his expression of love and affection. She laughingly says that he would kiss you if he could. Apparently he smothers her with affection and is right up there wanting to be petted as soon as she enters the room . So he is really a kitty-monkey-dog wrapped into one lovely feline body.

What we want more than anything for this adorable boy is to find someone who will make it their life’s mission to provide him with a PERMANENT home. No more bouncing around, please. Someone who is home a lot and who treasures having a Velcro kitty, because that’s what Stewy seems to be. He has been kept indoors all his life and seems to have no desire for outside exposure.

Because he is so human focused, his caretaker doesn’t think he wants or needs another feline companion. Maybe in a few months, but definitely not right now. He does seem a bit skittish at times – we just don’t know how he was treated by some of the other people that “cared” for him. He must have definitely been treasured and treated well by his original owner. We know he has never been around small children and we think he may be frightened by dogs.

Like all Bengals, he will need to be fed an appropriate high quality diet consisting mainly of wet food. We encourage the prospective adopter to review “Feeding Your Cat: Know the Basics of Feline Nutrition” information found on this website: http://catinfo.org/

If you love and are familiar with the engaging Bengal breed, please consider giving this sweet boy a permanent home. Contact Frauke at 925-784-8244 or email at loveallcats7@gmail.com and submit an Adoption Application.

Please note that Stewy is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with his caretaker in Oakdale, CA while being placed in his permanent home.
