My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 2/7/09: Cleo has been playing in the yard with Bradley and Calvin and she is doing wonderful with them. This is a dog that will bond very strongly to her new owner and be devoted for life once the bond is made. She does fine once slowly introduced to a new setting and new animals. If someone is willing to be patient with Cleo for the first few weeks, we know that they will make the best friend they have ever had.
UPDATE 1/30/09: Please help our special needs girl Cleo. Her special need is patience, understanding, and love. Please e-mail us at spcagainesville@hotmail.com if you are interested in this cute girl. She is about 35lbs and will not get any larger. Cleo gets along with other dogs after a slow introduction or she would do fine as an only dog. She gets nervous and may nip at other dogs that are overly aggressive with her or rambunctious before she is comfortable with them. She is a great watch dog and is used to being outside in a safe fenced environment, but she may try to dig to be with her humans if left alone. The pictures were taken at our vet clinic where Cleo is currently boarding until a foster home can be found. Can you resist those eyes? She is a shy dog who would do best with an experienced owner. Cleo is going to bond very strongly to her new owner and already knows some basic commands like sit and down and she responds to her name. This sweet girl is waiting to be your new best friend.
UPDATE 11/2/08: Cleo is still in foster care waiting her turn for adoption. If you are interested in adopting or meeting her, please e-mail us at spcagainesville@hotmail.com
UPDATE 7/28/08: Cleo has done very well in foster care. She is still more outgoing than her sister Kira and she has made a few trips to PetsMart on Saturday where she enjoyed meeting people, children, and the other dogs. If you would like to meet Cleo, please e-mail us at spcagainesville@hotmail.com so we can set up a time to meet her.
UPDATE 6/24/08: Cleo has become a very sweet girl. She loves rolling onto her back to get belly rubs. She definitely loves being around people and she will bond very strongly to her new owner. She gets along with other dogs and would do fine with an older dog to show her the way or as an only dog as long as she has an owner willing to spend time with her. As with most puppies, Cleo would benefit from an interactive puppy class where she and her new owner could bond and learn together. If you are interested in meeting Cleo, please e-mail us at spcagainesville@hotmail.com.
POSTED 5/26/08: Cleopatra is a Doberman/blue healer puppy. She is about 7 months old and weigh about 24 lbs now. Cleo is black with brindle coloring on her face and feet. She is looking for a special human to love her forever. This is her story: The mother (Doberman) and father (blue healer) are still owned by a couple who are 92 years old. The momma dog has been spayed now but had 2 litters prior to this. All 8 dogs were living in the same pen in the back yard and the 4 youngest puppies have been picked on by the older, bigger dogs. 2 of the puppies (Cleo and Kira) have been pulled from this environment and placed in a foster home where they are receiving the much needed socialization and human contact that they deserve. Cleo was placed in her temporary home about 3 days prior to Kira and you can already see how much she is coming out of her shell and starting to interact with humans. Both puppies are still very shy and will need some time and confidence building. They are not aggressive and will not be good guard dogs. They are going to bond very strongly to their new owner and are looking for security and positive reinforcement while they learn that the world is not a bad place. They are already starting to relax and fall asleep with their new foster mom. They will follow her around like a shadow and they get along fine with the other dogs in the home. The owner cannot afford nor are they physically capable of providing what these puppies need. Please contact us if you are interested in temporarily fostering or permanently adopting one of these puppies. All of our dogs and puppies have been vet checked, vaccinated, dewormed, spayed or neutered, started on heartworm prevention and tested if needed and treated for fleas and other parasites prior to adoption. Our adoption fee is $100 per dog or puppy to help cover some of the medical costs.
