Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This uncertain economy is hitting all of us pretty hard, but the real victims right now are our furry friends. Once again, a family that fell on difficult financial times took their beloved furry friend to the county shelter because they could not afford to take car of him. This beautiful white lab mix was left confused and feeling very uncertain about his future. With the shelters being at capacity, these owner surrenders do not have a good chance of being adopted out. They are the first to be put down when the shelter is full. Jake, is a fabulous dog, that did nothing wrong.....just a victim of circumstances! Labrador Friends was more than happy to bring this wonderful fellow into the rescue program. Jake is crate trained, good with children and other dogs. He is leash trained and knows a few commands like sit, and down. He travels very well in the car and loves to give labbie kisses and sit with you or on you. What more could you ask for in a 6 month old pup??? He is going to be a big boy by looking at the size of his feet. But that will match his big heart ,and he is willing to share it with a family that will take care of him for the rest of his Labbie days!
UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY: Jake is doing well - he definitely knows sit and is crate trained (no messes even after 8 hours) and loves to play with his foster brothers!! Found out yesterday that he thinks pinestraw is his personal bedding - wonder if the previous owners kept him outside since the pillows indoors aren't of high interest to him but a 'bed' outdoors was right up his alley when we were doing yard work last night!
ANOTHER UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER PARENTS: Jake is a very sweet boy who loves to play with other dogs and people. He has adapted very well into our home environment and is fun to have around. He has done well when we had 30 adults and kids over during the Memorial Day weekend and has done great at the dog park with all of the other canines. He would make a great addition to any family looking for a dog to play with and love.
