This adorable little boy is Beamer, a 25 pound beagle, who was found running around the streets of Newark. One of our volunteers was visiting the shelter when she saw him sleeping on the cold cement floor, and she knew immediately that he would be her newest foster dog. Beamer now occcupies her bed at night, sleeping in a tight little circle on a comfortable pillow next to her head.

The shelter paperwork states that Beamer is about 4 years old, but we think he is younger. He is affectionate, fun, and loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home. He met the cats, and after one swipe of a feline paw Beamer has learned that they do not wish to play with him, and he now cautiously keeps his distance.

Beamer loves going for walks and enjoys playing ball outdoors. He would be a perfect family pet, as he is great with adults and children of all sizes. He is completely housebroken and not destructive when left alone in the house. He is neutered and up to date on all his shots. Beamer is a wonderful dog, and he is hoping for a home where his new family won't mind if he joins them on the couch for a nap and some TV, but most importantly he is hoping for a family that will love him and care for him forever.

Check the events page on our website for more information and directions to meet our dogs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Beamer, a Raritan Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Raritan, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Raritan.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Raritan already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Raritan breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Raritan paves the way for another one to be saved.
