My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Hamlet appears to be a Dutch Shepherd mix with the classic 'one ear up, one ear down' of a shepherd puppy. He's about 20lbs at 5 months old, so he'll probably be a medium sized dog when he grows up. An Animal Control officer found Hamlet running loose with a bigger, older dog; assuming they lived together, she put them in the same kennel so this scared puppy could have some comfort at the pound. He followed his big buddy everywhere, barking when he barked and generally continuing with the mentoring lessons he was getting when they were out and about. When the owner was found, it turns out that Hamlet didn't belong to her - he was just young, lonely and out on his own and followed the first nice dog he found.
Now that he's in his foster home, Hamlet is extremely calm and sweet, and so willing to please that he becomes indecisive when he can't figure out what his humans want - thus the name Hamlet. When in doubt, his policy is to lie down and look cute. It appears that he's never had any loving care, because at first he didn't quite trust himself to give in completely to human lovins' - he wagged his tail furiously but couldn't make the leap into their arms. He got over that in about a week though, and now he's an accomplished snuggler. He can still be a little shy when he meets new people, but that may not last either. Hamlet is not needy, but he does love human attention whenever he gets it. He is new to toys too, but has gotten to the point where he'll sit down and work on a squeaky toy. Hamlet currently lives with cats and wants to be friends. He quiets curls up to sleep right next to them. Leash walking is completely new to Hamlet, but since he naturally follows humans around he's picking it up quickly. His foster family is giving him triple doses of attention, affection and toys to make up for all that he missed in his first few months of life. It won't be long at all until Hamlet comes out of his shell. His politeness will probably be mixed with a little more puppy mischief, but he'll still have that 'hoping to please' attitude
