This is Cassie. At 14 pounds, this 2 1/2 year old dachshund mix has a lot of love to give! She was found wandering the streets of Queens. Was she lost? Abandoned? We will never know. Cassie was terrified at the shelter. She was so happy when her foster mom came to rescue her. When Animal Control found Cassie, she was infested with fleas. The fleas were easily taken care of, but Cassie was left with slight hair loss on her hind end. With a few shampoo treatments, her hair is already beginning to grow back!
This sweet girl is a little timid when meeting someone new. After a few minutes, she will approach you for a belly rub. Cassie loves to play with other dogs, big and small. She plays with her foster sister (a 50 pound German Shepherd mix) as well as all of the other dogs in the neighborhood. Cassie also enjoys going for walks and playing fetch with her toys. After playing or walking, she will cuddle up on the couch or in a doggie bed to take a little nap.
Cassie loves to snuggle next to you, by your feet, or in your lap. When she wants to be picked up, she will roll onto her back and stick her little paws in the air. She can't wait to reward you with kisses! All of these kisses, just for giving her the care and love she deserves.
Cassie would do fine in a house with another calm dog, or as an only dog. She sleeps in a crate while her foster mom works an 8 hour day. Due to her small size, she would do best in a household with older children. Being a little timid, she would benefit from a quieter home as well.
Cassie is housetrained, up to date with shots, and microchipped. If you think that you would like to provide this curly haired cutie with a loving home, please fill out the online dog application and come to meet Cassie at our next adoption day event.
