Poppy's Story...
Poppy is a Long Hair Chihuahua, approx 6 pounds, 5 to 6 years of age and a dog that loves his humans.
He prefers sleeping in a crate, loves going on walks on his leash, or to Fiesta Island for some running, but stays close.
He knows the doggie door, is an alert barker when someone new comes in and likes being held or carried in a bag. He knows to "get into the bag" when he is going bye bye with you. He would NOT be good with small children as he is somewhat fearful of them. Gets along well with other dogs and is courious of cats, but doesn't seem to be chaser. If you would like to meet this beautiful boy please send in your application to Poppy@RescueAChihuahua.com

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Poppy, a San Diego Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in San Diego, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in San Diego.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Diego already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Diego breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Diego paves the way for another one to be saved.
