Dewey's Story...
Dewey is a gorgeous and shy, four-year-old brown tabby cat with magnificent green eyes looking for a new loving home. If Dewey looks scared, he has every right to be. Poor Dewey survived a fire at a southern Illinois animal shelter that destroyed some of the other occupants. He went to live in a foster home where once again there was a fire and poor Dewey was trapped in a burning building for the second time. Is it any wonder Dewey is insecure? This handsome cat is looking for a permanent home where he’ll be safe and adored. He gets along just fine with other cats, and he’s extremely shy with people. Dewey is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, virus-tested, and de-wormed. To meet and possibly adopt Dewey, please contact Lori or 630-375-7976. His adoption fee of $110 supports the rescued dogs and cats of A Caring Place Humane Society.

Dewey, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
