My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

> Puff Ball is every bit as cuddly as he looks! He even likes to give kisses. If you are looking for a couch companion or a bed partner, look no more. He is also playful and happy; he especially likes his friend Lilly, who has a similar disposition, but he would probably also do well with another friendly kitten or cat. Children are okay also: Puff Ball is being raised in a household with two older children who show him plenty of attention and love.

> Puff Ball has the long, fluffy fur of the Ragdoll or Ragamuffin. His Mom is a bluepoint, but ultimately there is no way we can tell whether Puff Ball is a purebred Ragamuffin or a Ragdoll or Ragamuffin mix. (Because he is solid in color, we know he is not a purebred Ragdoll.) Ragdolls and Ragamuffins share the same lineage, but the Ragamuffin breed used outcrosses to various other breeds for an increased range of colors and patterns. A Ragamuffin in one of the patterns acceptable for Ragdolls, such as bluepoint, is hard to distinguish from a Ragdoll. In any case, what you can expect of Puff Ball or any of his siblings is the same, whether Mom is a Ragdoll or a Ragamuffin: cats of both breeds tend to be large, loving, playful, and easygoing.

> How does a treasure like Puff Ball end up in rescue? Ragdolls and Ragamuffins are popular, partly because of their extraordinary temperament, and partly because they are longhairs with minimal grooming requirements. Knowing this, not every person who purchases a purebred cat from a breeder follows up on the agreement to alter it. Then, even though every reputable breeder says these cats should not be allowed outside—Ragdolls and Ragamuffins are just too docile to defend themselves—some people ignore the admonition, and so there are reasonable odds of an “unwanted” litter.

> We at PPCR are very skilled at identifying adult Ragdolls and Ragamuffins that we find in shelters. We think we also have an excellent track record for identifying kittens that will grow up to be extraordinary adults. But of course the bottom line is that we cannot guarantee that Puff Ball, or any other cat we rescue that does not have papers, is a CFA standard kitten. What we do know is that Puff Ball will be stunning when he matures. He is striking already! And we can guarantee that he has spent his impressionable babyhood in a home, not in a cage, tended with love that he will eventually share with some fortunate family.
