My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AFFECTIONATE, LITTLE LAP DOG!
Lucy is a Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie) dog, approximately 2 years of age, and weighing in at just 11 pounds. Lucy is freshly groomed in her pictures, but only after she was rescued and her very matted coat was washed and professionally groomed. Lucy was found as a stray at Shelby Farms and never claimed. Lucy is now fostered in a home with other dogs, kids, and a cat...and Lucy has demonstrated that really out of the whole bunch, she only wants to be foster mom's best friend. Lucy does not care for the young boys in the house and she barks a lot at the house cat and even the dogs. We think Lucy will do best in a home where there are no children, and cats, and the jury is out on another dog (another small dog might be a possibility if they meet and like each other). Lucy also does not like being crated...she is gated in an area of the house (with peepads) when foster mom leaves the house and Lucy seems to agree with this. At night, Lucy really wants to curl up on the foot of the bed, so she will need a home that will welcome this as well. Lucy's activity level is medium. She is house trained. Lucy's adopter(s) will have to be prepared and capable of keeping Lucy regularly groomed in the future. All in all, Lucy really is a little sweetheart who desperately wants a loving, stable home who can shower her with love and attention (and she them). We feel the ideal home for Lucy will have plenty of quality time to share with this little lady, a home with previous small dog experience would also be ideal, a home with a fenced in yard to keep little Lucy safe would be best, and a patient, and loving person willing to let Lucy sit on your lap is important too. Lucy is current on vaccinations, spayed, and receives monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. If you think you match the requirements mentioned for Lucy, please submit a Save1pet adoption application to be considered for Lucy. Save 1 Pet is a 501 C 3 approved charity committed to helping homeless animals. We don't have a facility (shelter) but work out of our homes and foster the animals until they can find a forever home.
