This is sweet Lily, a 3 year old, brown and white, Pit Bull mix. Poor Lily was found wandering the streets in the Bronx. We will never know if she was lost or abandoned, but it's clear that Lily has had it rough for some time. Her coat is thin and she is very skinny at 40 pounds. She needs to gain a good 10 to 15 pounds at the very least. The shelter staff said that Lily was very sweet, but "wilting" in the shelter environment. The loud noises and constant commotion caused Lily to sit in the back of her kennel, nervous to come out. When one of our volunteers heard about Lily, she knew that she needed to get Lily out of the shelter and into a home so that Lily had the chance to blossom.

Lily's foster mom picked her up at the shelter and Lily came out wiggling and wagging with excitement! She jumped up to give her foster mom thank you kisses! As her foster mom drove home, Lily had a worried look in her eyes, as if to say, "what next?" When Lily arrived at her foster home, she seemed unsure as she explored and paced. She finally settled on the couch and fell asleep in her foster mom's lap. The next morning, Lily jumped out of bed and began playing with all of the toys! Her worries were beginning to disappear.

Lily is blooming into the beautiful dog that she is meant to be. She loves greeting men, women, and children with wiggles, wags, and sweet kisses. She gets along well with her 50 pound canine foster sister. Lily is a little too interested in cats, so she would do best in a home without feline friends. Lily loves a good game of fetch and going for walks; she is also content to sit and relax. She loves to cuddle with her foster mom on the couch and at bedtime. Lily walks nicely on a leash. She already knows her basic commands! She knows "sit", "stay", "wait", and "come". Lily aims to please. All she really wants from her person or family is to be loved. With a little TLC, Lily's "worried eyes" have turned into hopeful and joyful eyes.

If you think that you would like to provide sweet Lily the loving home that she deserves, please fill out an application and come meet Lily at our next adoption day event.
