My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Kernel! I was stuck in an Ohio shelter in a crate for like 3-4 months. It was very depressing and stressful there for me with all the shelter noise and commotion, so no one was very interested in me. Then the nice BREW lady came and got me out of there! I am a totally different dog now – so happy to be able to run around and be a beagle again!!! Don’t get me wrong – the shelter gave me a place to hang out – I’m very thankful for them giving me that! Now I’m in a foster home with a couple of older beagle girls to hang with, a fenced yard to run in, a big toy box, getting lots of love and attention and I’m loving life again!!! I’m looking for a nice quiet household (without young children) for my forever home this Christmas!

Foster Family note: Kernel needs a forever family that is timid/shy dog-experienced (another confident dog would be a huge plus, along with a secure fenced yard – he lives to chase the bunnies and squirrels, and is very much an outdoor boy – no weather deters him, rain or snow! I would say Kirby is medium energy – I work from home some days and Kirby is pretty mellow most of the day until like 3:30 pm and then the puppy behaviors come out – and he needs to go run and do his zoomies out in the yard!

Kernel does really good in a crate during the 9 hour workday, and loves his daily walks (he is not a real big puller). He is a super sweet boy (he earned his nickname – Kernel the love bug) – as once he trusts you, he will be in your lap or snuggling by you! He will just need some time to get used to new surroundings/new people. For 4 years old, Kirby can still be very puppyish (watch the inappropriate chewing and his curiosity getting him into things…all behaviors that will most likely slow down as he gets more comfortable). Kirby knows his name already and understands ‘no’ when he is doing stuff he shouldn’t be.

Please let BREW know if you want Kernel to join your family!
