Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bones is a very special Boxer mix looking for an equally very special home to cherish, love and protect him. .
In the heat of August, he was dumped on a deadly blind corner of a very busy mountain road. He was hit by a car which shattered his right rear leg in several places. He managed to pull himself from the Hwy and he lived in the thick brush for weeks. No food, no water, no medical attention. The average temperature at that time was 116 degrees.
It is a miracle that he survived. Estimates are that he was there 2 to 3 weeks before he was discovered and rescued. He was extremely emaciated; literally skin and bones and had several intestinal parasites as well. With the combination of time lapse of no medical attention and the many breaks, his leg could not be saved. His leg was amputated.
Bones is a very, very sweet, happy boy. He is still a young dog, the vet estimates he was probably born June '09. He had no training, so he's been through a basic obedience course. He knows how to heel while walking on leash; he can sit, lay and stay. However, he gets VERY excitable, so taking him through more training would be an excellent idea. He may need some work on the housetraining, but he is crate trained.
He gets along with all people, adults and children, and he loves to play with other dogs and is good with cats. He gets a little carried away with his energy level of play, so an equal sized dog would probably be best for him. He is still thin; he eats like a horse and is putting on weight little by little. With his thin condition and short hair, he does get cold easily.
Bones would love a sunny fenced in yard at his new home and a very loving family that will devote to him all the love and attention he so deserved from his previous owner.
