My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet 7 year old Jakoby (aka Jake) who is one large, handsome devil! Jake weighs in at 103 pounds and is only about 5 pounds overweight. Unfortunately, this boy is a product of divorce where his people moved to apartments that could not take dogs. Jake spent his life in a backyard and never got to experience anything. He has adjusted very nicely and enjoys his walks and experiences such as Home Depot shopping and Petsmart. He is fantastic with all people and children - he loves kids and is extremely tolerant as he grew up with small kids in his home. He has a moderate energy level and does not require much exercise. He is relatively good on leash - especially given his size and lack of formal training - takes correction well and is heeling nicely now. He is great off leash too on hikes in the wilderness areas - stays right by you the entire time. Jake is excellent in a crate and will need one in his new home. Jake is good with other socialized dogs that don't torment him to play:) He would not be comfortable with dogs that want to dominate him or assert themselves too much - they overwhelm him. He has currently lived with 7 different dogs and is loving his new dog-centric life. He is also great with cats and has lived with three in his foster home - one outdoor and two indoor. Jake likes the company of dogs, but we think a life as an only dog or with an older, mellower layed back dog would be best. Jake enjoys people companionship and has had too many years isolated from people, so we are looking for a family not gone long hours. Jake is going to be great for apartment/condo people or people who want a dog in the house full time. He is a tad uncomfortable left alone in a backyard, but with a doggy door - he would be content as ever. Jake is very healthy and moves very well. He is on a daily medication, but the vet is weening him off it because it is apparent that he does not need it. If you think Jake sounds like the dog for you, please contact your family rep. You must have an approved homecheck in order to speak with the foster rep.
