Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sammie's story is one of the saddest ones we have heard in a while. She was the loving companion of a couple for 11 years until they had to go into an assisted living facility. Having taking great care of their dog (yearly shots, heartworm pills, etc...) they entrusted their neighbor who promised to find Sammie a good home. Well, after 3 months, he couldn't find her a home and he took her to animal control. Where she would have automatically been pts except for chance. Yes, fate intervened and Labrador Friends was called to see if we could possibly help her. And amazingly enough we had a foster dad who was looking for an older dog to keep his dog company. So, Miss Sammie now has a new "leash" on life and she is eternally grateful. This sweet angel is an amazing dog! No one at Pet Smart could believe that she was 11. Her coat is in great shape, she prances around like a 2 year old. She's never met a stranger, dog or human, and loves to greet everyone. She knows sit and shake for sure and possible some more commands. Rides in the car like she's done it many times. And loves to stick her head out the window to feel the breeze in her hair!
