Here's what the humans have to say about me:
The Tale of Jack the Beagle
Once upon a time in a not so faraway land, a baby boy beagle was born. With a glossy tri-color coat, big brown eyes and a smattering of freckles across his nose, he was soon chosen and taken home. Christened Jack, he was so excited to be part of a family and vowed to be the best beagle companion ever to his new mom and dad. But, alas, it was not meant to be. You see, Mr. and Mrs. Clueless only wanted Jack to entertain their grandchildren who visited occasionally. Since Jack had no thumbs he couldn’t juggle, he didn’t know any card tricks and he didn’t have a stand-up routine, so he was soon banished out in back of the house and chained to a dog house. And there he languished for five long years with his only contact a daily bowl of food. One day, Mrs. Clueless came and got Jack and drove him to their nearby animal shelter. She took him in, declared, “He’s useless,” and was gone without a backward glance. Well, poor Jack had gone from one bad situation to another. While he was treated well at the shelter, what he really wanted was a family of his own, but Jack stayed there for two months and no one came for him. One day, a shelter worker told Jack, “You’ve been rescued!” Naturally, his expectations were as low as they could get, but he soon learned she was right. Like a VIB, he was flown by the wonderful people at Pilots and Paws to his foster home. There he learned you can go through doorways and nothing bad will happen to you. The ceiling fan will not swoop down on you. Opening the refrigerator door can mean a good thing. And it’s always more comfy if you lay IN the dog bed instead of on the hard floor next to it. But, most important of all, Jack learned about love. So, this gentle soul dreams of his true forever family who will give him the chance at a good life he so deserves. And so, Jack’s story is…..
To Be Continued
(Note from Jack’s foster parents: Ever the optimist, Jack is a happy boy with a bounce in his step and a tail that’s always wagging. He loves to go for walks, and gets along well with his canine brothers and sisters and humans of all ages. Jack is looking for a somewhat quiet, patient home that can help him learn more about the great things life holds for him. A fenced yard is preferred so he can continue to explore his newfound freedom from chains. We love this guy!)
