Facts about Vinny

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Brown Tabby
  • Age: Senior
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Vinny is our large and in charge 8-9 year old male Brown Tabby cat that is available for adoption. He was returned recently after being adopted when his owner moved and could not take Vinny with him. He was first at our shelter back in 2011, after he was surrendered by an owner to a local Veternary Hospital.

Vinny is a BIG cat, and likes to hang out in our office area. He is a mature acting cat that wants to be an only pet in a home (he bullies other cats and is not a fan of dogs). He had been an indoor/outdoor cat, but he would get into fights because he likes to be a tough guy with other neighbors frisky felines. He will be very happy as an indoor cat that has the entire house to himself...and of course the love and attention from his new family too! Vinny is a big, lovable guy...he just needs someone that will give him a forever home!

Vinny has been neutered, is up to date on his vaccinations and is also microchipped. He is ready to be adopted...and hopefully this third home will be his forever home. Please contact us if you would like to find out more about Vinny, or better yet, stop by our shelter and ask to meet him in person!

An approved adoption application is required to adopt an animal from our Humane Society. Our application form is available on our website, or by requesting one by contacting our office. We accept completed applications via email, postal mail or in person when you visit. Our adoption policies and more information is provided on our website. Contact us with any questions.

About Tri-Lakes Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

"We speak for those who cannot" has been our shelter's motto since 1973. Since 1942 our members and staff have rescued homeless and unwanted pets, and placed them into new and loving homes.
In 1998, our board of directors voted to become a "no-kill" facility. "No-kill" means we do not euthanize healthy & adoptable animals to make room for new arrivals. In 2001, we moved to our new facility at 255 George Lapan Hwy in Saranac Lake, NY. Since our big move, we have rescued and adopted out over 3000 animals and reunited over 1000 pets with their owners.

We are very involved in our local community, and we have a Humane Education program and we travel to local schools to educate children on proper animal care, the importance of spaying and neutering, and how to be kind to animals.
Our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program provides financial aid to low income pet owners who need help affording the cost of the surgery at local Veterinary Hospitals and Clinics.
We also have a Trap-Neuter-Return program to help local community feral cats.

The Tri-Lakes Humane Society employs an Animal/Dog Control Officer, and contracts with local towns and villages. Our Dog Control Officer is in charge of enforcing the local Dog Control ordinances. From time to time, we also become involved in animal cruelty cases and assist local law enforcement with their investigations.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption Applications must be submitted and approved prior to adoption of any animal. You can view our Adoption Policies and application form on our website:

Our Adoption Fee for dogs/puppies and cats/kittens is $77, which covers the spay/neuter cost, microchipping and registration, as well as all vaccinations, flea treatment, and wormings.
The Adoption Fees vary if the pet was already spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to arriving at our shelter.
We also have a Seniors for Seniors adoption program. If a person over 60 years of age opts to adopt a pet over the age of 7, all adoption fees are waived.
