Clancey's Story...
Cherokee has three kitten, Clancey, Clifford and Clarice. She is a young cat and she had these babies in March. So cute and everyone is doing very well with transitioning from the outdoor life style to one of luxury at the shelter. Once the kittens have their first set of vaccines, at approximately 6 weeks old, they can be reserved. To reserve a kitten, an approved application and non refundable $20 deposit is required. Kittens cannot be adopted until they reach 12 weeks AND 3 pounds. UPDATE: Cheyenne and her babies have had their first vaccines and can be reserved now.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Clancey, a Des Moines American Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Des Moines, or seeking a American Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Des Moines.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Des Moines already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Des Moines breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Des Moines paves the way for another one to be saved.
