Beau is an exceedingly handsome 4 year old Rottweiler, found on the streets of NYC. He was already neutered and has impeccable manners, a sure sign that he was loved and cared for. We can’t understand why his owner’s didn’t claim him at the shelter, however after two long and depressing weeks he developed an upper respiratory infection and was placed on the shelter’s euthanasia list. Thank goodness we spotted his gorgeous face and pulled him out of the shelter the night before he was scheduled to die.

Beau is simply awesome! He is completely housetrained and his foster family gives him the run of the house while they are at work/school during the day. He loves to play with other dogs, both big and small, and he acts more like puppy than an adult dog when trying to engage them in play. He is a very big boy – he weighs about 90 pounds, so we think he would do best in a home without small children. Once he is introduced properly to new people, it takes him all of 5 minutes to warm up, and at that point he will have won you over by trying to climb into your lap or nudging your hand for some attention. Beau loves to play with plush toys and treats them gently, rarely ripping them apart like some of the other dogs his foster family has met. He walks very well on a leash, never pulling, and stays right by his foster mom’s side. He has become his foster mom’s “shadow”, following her from room to room and resting at her feet.

Beau is up to date on all his shots, neutered, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and crate trained (although he does not need to be crated). He is affectionate, loyal, and his soft brown eyes will melt your heart. Although he is not a young dog, he has many more years ahead of him and we know that the lucky family that adopts him will be forever thankful that they did.
