Meet Grace. Just another throw away pittie who was brought into a low income neighborhood clinic by a man claiming “IT WASN’T HIS DOG”. She was on a large CHAIN, her ears were HACKED OFF, she was used as a BREEDING MACHINE and most likely after as a BAIT or a FIGHTING dog. She had FRESH SCARS ON HER FACE and MUZZLE, she was DIRTY, FLEA INFESTED, had MULTIPLE MAMMARY TUMORS ON HER BREASTS THAT HAD NURSED MANY ILLEGALLY BRED PUPPIES.
Merrill Flam, an independent rescuer, looked into Grace’s sad, frightened and defeated, eyes and decided in that moment….. she would save her life. She had no plan and no money….. but she knew that she could not walk away from Grace. Thanks to Merrill, today, Grace is a completely different dog who has experienced for the first time in her life….love, compassion and kindness at the hands of a human being who will never let her down, a human being who will never betray her. Merrill is that person. Merrill has been struggling financially, she has been trying to place Grace in a forever home but so far no one has seen her beauty. Grace has been in boarding for 8 months. Boarding costs $350 per month, and Merrill has been out of work for a while and her unemployment has run out.
About Grace.....On sunny days Grace likes to lie outside on her bed on her back rolling and grunting with her legs up in the air and she often sleeps like that. Grace loves tennis balls and will carry one around and into her bed. Grace had a stuffed squirrel she carried around and if she forgot it she would run back and grab it. Grace makes pig noises when rolling on her back and likes to sit or lay with you outside while she sun bathes. Grace can be very playful and runs fast despite her baby hippo like appearance ! Once she has her ball she will sometimes get the boot scoots and zoom all over while growling and grunting. She will make you chase her for the ball but won't let you catch her. Grace is looking for her forever home.
