Come meet Thumper THIS Saturday, Sept 8 from 11am-2pm at Danehy Park in Cambridge, MA!
Thumper is a 5 year old, 11lb Chihuahua mix who looks like a mini German Shepherd, he gets so many compliments about how cute he is! He is full of love and energy and he loves getting kisses on the forehead and being told how loved he is. He also loves belly rubs and he'll roll over on his back to send hints that he's ready for one! Thumper loves to run in an open field and play chase with you as well as other dogs once he's comfortable. He is absolutely wonderful on leash and off leash. He does not travel too far from your side either way, but if he does get ahead of you, he stops and waits for you to catch up. Foster mom is very impressed! He loves car rides and jumps right into the back seat when you open the door and he gets settled right in and takes little naps or he likes to stick his head out the window and take in the fresh air. He'll go in the crate without a fight, but he much prefers to not be in one, instead, would rather cuddle up in the corner of the couch, his dog bed or on the floor where it is much cooler on warm days. Thumper can be a lap dog at times though he doesn't usually stay there very long, he'll instead, lay next to you on the couch, or on the floor by your feet. He also loves to cuddle in bed at bedtime, whether it be next to cuddled in a blanket or underneath the covers.
Thumper tends to get nervous when new people approach him or come into the house, but he is happy to initiate attention and snuggling! He would be best with an owner who will commit to helping him learn that people aren't going to hurt him. When he's out walking, he is totally fine with people and animals. Once he's comfortable and trusts you, he is so lovey and playful and bonds pretty quickly. He enjoys being pet and getting lots of attention from everyone, including kids, but would probably do better in a home that had kids if they were ages 10+, so that he can continue to learn to trust and be less fearful. We are still trying to figure out if Thumper likes cats or not, he hasn't quite figured it out yet, sometimes he's ok and other times, he gets a little scared.
