Smokey's Story...
Meet Smokey! Smokey was rescued from the local pound after being turned in because he wasn't wanted anymore. He has spent most of his life on a chain and is learning about the good things in life. He is also learning house manners and is doing great with housetraining. He also loves playing outside with the other dogs which are females and neutered males.
Smokey needs a home where he can be a part of the family and be taken on nice walks and have someone to play ball with. He would do well with another dog to play with or as the only dog. He is good with children, but older children would be better because he does try to herd and may nip the heels of younger children when they run. He does not do well with cats. If you are interested in meeting sweet Smokey please email his foster mom, Sandy at s3furkids@aol.com
An approved adoption application, a home visit, and adoption fee is required. He will not be adopted to a home with invisible fencing.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smokey, a Bedford Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Bedford, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Bedford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bedford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bedford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bedford paves the way for another one to be saved.
