My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ELSIE, 3 year old Female Seal Point Siamese.
Velvety soft, kind and gentle are just a few words that describe this beautiful blue-eyed girl. Elsie has had a sad go of it during the last few months. First, her owner suddenly passed away. Then, when the family came to clear out the house, they took all the belongings except for Elsie. Their decision of what to do with this sweet girl, was to just put her outside to fend for herself. After 6 weeks outside, a nice neighbor contacted us to let us know about her.
Elsie came to us very scared and stressed. Because she was outside, she needed to be quarantined for two weeks. She spent most of this time hiding under the bed. However, no matter how stressed she was, she has never hissed or shown any aggression to her foster family. She has been extremely tolerant as she had a bath and nail trim.
Elsie did start losing hair on her face after 1 weeks in foster care. We had the vet do a skin scraping to make sure that it was not contagious, and that came back clear. The vet feels that the stress of losing her owner, and then being put out on the street and then captured again and put in rescue put her immune system into a tail spin and caused the hair loss and itchy spots and gum inflammation. Although the hair had already grown back, she still had some itchy spots and her gums were still inflamed. The vet put her on prednisone, and it is quickly clearing up.
If you are looking for a high-energy cat with the playfulness of a kitten, then Elsie is NOT the cat for you. Elsie is a quiet cat, and although she has tolerated the 3 young boys in her foster home, she would do best in an quieter home. She has bonded with the oldest boy (9), and you can find her sleeping beside him at night and snuggling into a warm blanket beside him while he reads. She is not a “lap cat,” but rather a “happy to just sit beside you cat.”
Elsie has come out of her shell over the past month, but she will need a family that is willing to be patient with her while she adjusts to her new home. She is tolerant of other gentle cats and well behaved dogs, but she would be happy to be your one and only too.
Elsie will come to you spayed, fully vetted, current on shots, FeLV/FIV negative and microchipped. Elsie is fostered in Salinas.
Elsie eats wet and dry food and is litter box perfect.
