Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Benjamin is a gorgeous, agile, incredibly sweet, very playful, snugly and loving, three-year-old, 16-pound, male, amber-eyed orange tabby cat looking for a loving guardian. Benji has a squeaky happy rumbly purr and adores being pet and loved. He gets along beautifully with other cats … and he is fine with dogs who don’t chase him. He has perfect litter box habits and uses his scratching post like a good boy. Benjamin was adopted from Chicago Animal Care and Control as a tiny kitten. He was returned three years later when his human moved out of state. Upon his return it was discovered that he has a severe heart murmur (grade four out of six) and he was diagnosed with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. The cardiologist mentioned that his lifespan will be shortened due to this genetic disorder but no one knows how long. At this point, he is completely asymptomatic and leads a normal and happy cat life. He is on an inexpensive beta blocker called atenolol twice daily to keep him healthy for as long as possible. Luckily he’s the easiest cat I’ve ever had to medicate … And, his medication only costs $2.00 a month. Benjamin is otherwise an incredibly happy boy. He is otherwise healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, and virus-tested. To meet and possibly adopt him, please contact Sheri at sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891. His adoption fee of $95 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. He is being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
