This beautiful lady is Darcie, a 10 month old black lab that came to us from TN in search of a great home. Darcie is a silly puppy that just loves to have fun! She will need basic training since she is only a pup, but Darcie is smart and eager to learn. Darcie is very gentle and affectionate, and just loves people. She has no inhibitions about meeting strangers and will run right up to everyone to greet them. Darcie loves to run and play in our exercise yard, and enjoys rummaging through our toy box to pull out her favorites. Darcie is such a happy-go-lucky lady and she would make a wonderful addition to any family that promises to love her forever. Darcie gets along well with other dogs and adores people of all ages. The Associated Humane Societies, founded in 1906, is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey. We comprise three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls . Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park Zoo. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park Zoo is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
The Society is a not for profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, and Popcorn Park is also a federally licensed zoo. The Society prides itself on our devotion to the thousands of animals that we care for annually and the chance for a better life we offer them. Our animal shelter is open to the public Monday through Friday from 12pm to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm.
We require a completed adoption application which can be obtained at our facility, or from our website: www.ahscares.org. We also require proof of home ownership if you own, or a copy of a lease stating that pets are allowed with no restrictions if you rent. We require vet records for any pets owned in the last five years as well. Our adoption fees vary based on age, breed, etc. Please call our facility for exact fee 609-693-1900.
We are the primary Animal Control for Barnegat, Waretown, West Creek, Surf City. We take in animals in need from all of the country.
