This beautiful young girl is Delilah, a 3 1/2 year old shih tzu mix that came to us from our Newark facility in search of a great new home. Delilah was given up by her owners who could no longer care for her. This lovely lady was a bit neglected upon arrival, and had a skin infection that was left untreated for quite some time. Delilah has gotten the medical care that she needed and is healthy, happy and sweeter than ever! She was also treated to a spa day is looking prettier than ever! Little Delilah doesn't let anything get her down. She has such a positive outlook on life and just loves the world and everyone in it. Delilah is super friendly, affectionate and well-behaved. She walks like a little princess on a leash and has excellent manners. Delilah seems to love everyone she meets and would make a wonderful addition to any family that will love and care for her forever! 12/5/12 File#22107

The Associated Humane Societies, founded in 1906, is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey. We comprise three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls . Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park Zoo. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park Zoo is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
The Society is a not for profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, and Popcorn Park is also a federally licensed zoo. The Society prides itself on our devotion to the thousands of animals that we care for annually and the chance for a better life we offer them. Our animal shelter is open to the public Monday through Friday from 12pm to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm.
We require a completed adoption application which can be obtained at our facility, or from our website: www.ahscares.org. We also require proof of home ownership if you own, or a copy of a lease stating that pets are allowed with no restrictions if you rent. We require vet records for any pets owned in the last five years as well. Our adoption fees vary based on age, breed, etc. Please call our facility for exact fee 609-693-1900.
We are the primary Animal Control for Barnegat, Waretown, West Creek, Surf City. We take in animals in need from all of the country.
