My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dakota. He is a fun 2 years old boy. He is quite handsome and happy. He loves people and other dogs. He is medium to high energy and the typical lab. Stay posted for an update from his foster home.

UPDATE FROM FOSTER MOM: Dakota is a sweet, energetic boy. He was most likely an outside dog but he is learning quickly the rules of the house. Dakota can be a bit mouthy when it comes to blankets, pillows and Matthew’s laptop power cord, but he doesn’t chew with the intent to destroy — it’s kinda like he’s using the corners of pillows and blankets as gum. Dakota can be a bit single-minded when it comes to playing, but so far I’ve found that a good butt scratching will settle him down for a little bit. He is responsive to structure, and he would thrive with proper training — he wants to please you if he could just figure out what you’re asking him to do. Dakota does well in the crate during the day and sleeps well in our bedroom at night. Dakota ideal home will have another playful dog and an active family that can keep him busy.

UPDATE: Dakota is really learning and settling in well. He loves to work so he would be a great dog for someone interested in training for agility, search and rescue or anything like that. He loves to work, and will do very well with structure and training. Dakota has come a LONG way from the dog that didn’t know how to get back down the stairs (after he bolted up them). He is a sweet, playful boy that loves everyone and is as eager to please as he is for affection. Dakota has made great strides in his manners, the important act of listening as well as entertaining himself when no one’s available to give him attention. Dakota has a luxurious coat and athletic lab build but doesn’t let his good looks go to his head. He’s looking for an active home that will give him lots of affection and opportunities to earn positive reinforcement; I think Dakota would be an excellent candidate for agility training and activities.
