Facts about Reba

  • Breed: Beagle/Hound (Unknown Type) Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Reba is our 5-6 year old, medium sized, red Hound/Beagle mix. Reba was originally found running loose and was never claimed by an owner. She loves to chase and play with her toys, and she enjoys going for walks/hikes on our dog trail.

Reba is housebroken, crate-trained and leash trained. We have tested her around kids, and she gets uncomfortable with young kids under 10 years of age. She has done fine with our teenage volunteers. She would be a good match for an adult home, or a home with older kids. Reba needs to be an only pet.

Reba has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for heartworm and Lyme disease. She is ready to be adopted, so please contact us if you would like to find out more about her or stop by and ask to meet her!

An approved adoption application is required to adopt an animal from our Humane Society. Our application form is available on our main website. You may submit your completed application to us via email, postal mail or in person when you visit. Once we receive an application we will begin the review process the same day. Visit our website for more adoption information.

About Tri-Lakes Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

"We speak for those who cannot" has been our shelter's motto since 1973. Since 1942 our members and staff have rescued homeless and unwanted pets, and placed them into new and loving homes.
In 1998, our board of directors voted to become a "no-kill" facility. "No-kill" means we do not euthanize healthy & adoptable animals to make room for new arrivals. In 2001, we moved to our new facility at 255 George Lapan Hwy in Saranac Lake, NY. Since our big move, we have rescued and adopted out over 3000 animals and reunited over 1000 pets with their owners.

We are very involved in our local community, and we have a Humane Education program and we travel to local schools to educate children on proper animal care, the importance of spaying and neutering, and how to be kind to animals.
Our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program provides financial aid to low income pet owners who need help affording the cost of the surgery at local Veterinary Hospitals and Clinics.
We also have a Trap-Neuter-Return program to help local community feral cats.

The Tri-Lakes Humane Society employs an Animal/Dog Control Officer, and contracts with local towns and villages. Our Dog Control Officer is in charge of enforcing the local Dog Control ordinances. From time to time, we also become involved in animal cruelty cases and assist local law enforcement with their investigations.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption Applications must be submitted and approved prior to adoption of any animal. You can view our Adoption Policies and application form on our website:

Our Adoption Fee for dogs/puppies and cats/kittens is $77, which covers the spay/neuter cost, microchipping and registration, as well as all vaccinations, flea treatment, and wormings.
The Adoption Fees vary if the pet was already spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to arriving at our shelter.
We also have a Seniors for Seniors adoption program. If a person over 60 years of age opts to adopt a pet over the age of 7, all adoption fees are waived.
