Genevieve: 3 to 5 yr old female silver tabby and cream Manx
We call her Jenny. She is a funny little kitty. Her wide round eyes always look a little surprised or a little startled. What? oh who me?
What's happening? She is the essence of good natured and curious, playful and lazy all together. Jenny is the kind of cat that makes your blood pressure go down every time you see her because she invariably makes you smile.
She has what is called a "rumpy riser" of a tail. Manx cats suitable for cat shows are either "rumpy" which means entirely tailless or they are "rumpy riser" cats which means they have a tiny piece of cartilage that sticks up just a little. Very fetching, this little riser.( "Stumpy" tailed cats are ineligible for showing.) This
little girl is very much a Manx; her hind legs are longer than her
front legs " creating a continuous arch from shoulders to the rump giving the cat a rounded appearance". They are very solid ,muscular cats and broad across the chest.. Manx cats are fairly medium to small and are often likened to rabbits with their strong hind legs.
and rounded back profile. And yes they did all originally come from the Isle of Man off the coast of England.
This Manx roundness accentuates a little of Jenny's own natural roundness -yes she could lose a pound maybe even two.( she is 13 and
1/2 pounds) The shelter workers affectionately called her Butterball and I don't think that is not really fair. I think their calling her that was a sign of how much fun she is and how much everyone loved her. She is affectionate and demonstrative and obliging and loves attention.
She has the thick double coat of a Manx and is a silver tabby,you can see her stripes. Her second color on her belly and face is a cream which I particularly like as a soft compliment to her lovely silver.
Someone must l have sought her out and purchased her and loved her.
The shelter paperwork said she was "stray, over the counter" but that just probably means her owners didn't want to pay the surrender fee or answer questions as to why they were abandoning her. She came in in good shape, previously spayed and clearly had not been outside starving. She caught a cold in this very full shelter and had to come to rescue or be euthanized.
Someone will be very lucky to get this unusual little girl who is unusually fun and funny.
She is, I think, cat friendly with the right slow introduction. I don't know how she would be with dogs.
She happily eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
