Balony's Story...
Balony is a handsome, incredibly sweet, eight-year-old, 15-pound, male, black and white Shih Tzu looking for a loving guardian. Balony landed at Chicago Animal Care and Control through no fault of his own. He loves people and other dogs. He loves to be pet, rolls over for belly rubs, and lets you pick him up and hug him. He knows the commands sit, dance, and come … he just wants to be by your side. He is crate-trained and appears to be housebroken. He has not yet been cat-tested. He is healthy, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. He is missing some teeth so his tongue hangs out of the side of his mouth in an adorable fashion. He will be neutered prior to adoption. To meet and possibly adopt Balony, please contact Gloria at or 773-907-0305. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Famous Fido’s. Balony and the rest of the rescue dogs spend their days at the Famous Fido Dog Boutique and Bakery at 5430 N. Clark Street in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. Stop in and meet some of these lovable souls.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Balony, a Chicago Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
