My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Daddy Khatt : 1 1/2 yr old male Black and White Persian mix
Fostered in Santa Cruz

July update: We just took Daddy Khatt to the vet to have his feet examined. He has one regular foot on the back left. The other three are not normally formed. He has only about 6 actual nails and he is missing some toes including all the toes on his other rear foot though he has the pad there. He has very soft rounded , sweet little feet. It is sort of like he was declawed but even smoother without most of the the toe separations. He jumps well and walks about easily, plays and runs to his food bowl but he is unusual, a little delicate in the way he puts his feet down especially his rear foot. The vet examined him carefully and felt he was in no pain from his feet and that he needed nothing to be done to them. It is just the way he is. He was likely the runt of the litter and was not quite finished. He has a good heart, no murmur, perfect baby teeth, and seems in all other ways very healthy and well. Daddy is just one of a kind. He is a super, super sweet boy. He can go home with Mommy Khatt or go home separately. He likes other cats and would be happy to have GENTLE kitty companions.

June update: Daddy it turns out is the biggest smoocher of the whole cat family he is such a sweet, loving boy. He also has the softest coat of the three. He is a darling. We have also discovered that he has very few nails in his paws. He has not been declawed I don't believe but his feet are smooth and round and have few toes or nails(I think he has 6 or 7 nails total). It is just the way he is, he is a one of a kind.

April update: Well, the day after the photo shoot mentioned below Daddy Khatt was waiting at the door when we came to feed breakfast. He was all affectionate and friendly, rubbing on our legs. So you can forget all the previous info about him being grumpy etc. Not at all the case. It was just his distress to be in the shelter. He is quite the affectionate lovebug. He also has super silky soft fur, the softest of the three kitties. Really nice guy.

The shelter said he was "grumpy"and he arrived in Santa Cruz definitely out of sorts and we worried about him. He was a breeder's stud and we worried that, like some we had known (one I adopted) he hadn't been loved and socialized properly. He was passive when we touched him and never showed us a tooth or claw but we were careful of him while we got to know him. Then we put him back in with his family and he liked that and touched noses and said hello. Today we picked him up, against his wishes, and said "Come on we need a photo shoot with you" and he trembled to be held and we fussed with him and then he surprised us by suddenly relaxing and enjoying our petting. Who knew?? He wants attention and love. He is frightened or traumatized by his recent experiences but he is a nice loving boy at heart. We have only just gotten him and I think in a short time he will settle in and be happier and a quite a lovebug. Such a sweet face and expression.

This boy has a silky coat and a huge plume of a tail. His nose is very unusual with a pink horizontal line across the top and a little black triangle below, definitely one of a kind. He is a little guy, just under 8 pounds, and he cuddles nicely in one arm. His bright lemon yellow eyes look wonderful against his black and white coloring. Mommy's eyes are just the same.

The owner said he couldn't afford to keep them anymore so he brought them to the shelter. The economy has been hard on breeders and many have stopped breeding. This little boy lived with cats and dogs and 2 children. We are lucky to have him. I will write an update when I know him better.

He has been neutered and tested and vaccinated as are all our cats.

It would be great if he could go home with Mommy Khatt but he is open to other suggestions.

He eats wet and dry and is litterbox perfect.

His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
