My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hope you'll come and meet me at the Memphis Farmers Market Downtown, Memphis Saturday, June 15th from 8am to 11:45am. We always have such a great time meeting folks at the market! If you miss me there, hope you'll stop by PetSmart on Poplar @ 240 from 12-4pm. Looking forward to a day out visiting with everyone!

Pepper is about 12-13 weeks old now and has his 3rd puppy vaccine. He is also neutered. He appears to be a mix of Keeshond and Chow and will grow up to be a medium size dog approx 35-45 pounds.

Being dumped off in a ditch in the Barton area of Marshall County MS at about 3-4 weeks old wasn't the best start in life for us. We had no teeth but the mush our foster home made was good and we all ate very well. Now we are playing and enjoying our life as we wait for our furever homes.

More information about the Keeshond breed:An affectionate, good-natured companion, the Keeshond is outgoing and friendly with people and dogs, following the lead of their owners when welcoming strangers. The breed learns quickly and is energetic, requiring daily exercise. Twice-weekly brushing is sufficient.

A medium-sized, sturdy dog, the Keeshond possesses the characteristics of other Northern breeds - a fox-like expression, stand-off coat and richly plumed tail carried over the back. His coloring is a mixture of gray, black and cream, with variations from light to dark and distinctive "spectacles" - markings and shadings in the eye area, including a delicate, dark line slanting from eye to ear and expressive eyebrows.

The Keeshond is a very old breed, and one of the very few which throughout history have always been raised for family companions and watchdogs. The fact that they have not been bred to hunt, kill animals, attack or chase criminals undoubtedly accounts for their gentle, intelligent devotion to their owners as home-loving dogs with a special fondness for children, for which they are renowned.

Our adoption fee is $150 which includes our spay/neuter, 2 puppy vaccines, worming, frontline and heartworm prevention.

Save 1 Pet is a 501 (c) 3 approved charity committed to helping homeless animals. We don't have a facility (shelter) but work out of our homes to foster the animals until they find a forever home.

If you are interested in adopting, we encourage you to fill out our adoption questionnaire: Save1Pet Adoption Questionnaire at www.save1pet.org
Please be advised that for all adoptions, we will conduct reference checks, including veterinary references.
