My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Maggie Mae and I am a sweet and playful 4 year old American Staffordshire terrier who is looking for my forever home.

More about me: my coat is a deep rich chestnut color - I am very much a redhead with a personality to match. I am very strong and sturdy (I weigh in at 65 pounds!) but my personality is my best feature. My foster mom tells me I am so beautiful and good that I won't be looking for a home for long. I hope that is true - I really want a forever family of my own.

I am strong-minded and my ideal home is with a kind, experienced, and confident person who will manage my environment to make me feel safe and loved. I enjoy being out and about with my people, and working crowds, but at home I can get worried at loud noises, really windy days, and strange men. I know it sounds silly from a big dog like me, but it just stresses me out. If we could live someplace quiet, without a lot of people going in and out, that would be perfect. I often feel more comfortable around women, so it would be totally fine if it were just the two of us girls!

I am not interested in befriending cats. Really. My foster mom says it is not polite to say that but I think it is good to be honest. I can also be choosey about my doggy friends. I have lived with dogs before and some I got along with, especially other females! and others, like males much bigger than me - not so much. Mostly, in our house it is important that we give each other some space to get to know one another. You can see me playing with one of my foster brothers-a puppy!-in the video my foster mom filmed.

As is typical of my breed I love my family and want to keep them safe. It is important to introduce new people properly so I understand that people coming to our home are friends. Outside the house watch me transform into a professional greeter!

My striking beauty and soulful eyes aren't my only attractions, I am also smart! I know sit, stay, sit pretty, and even wave. I am perfectly housebroken and crate trained, though I never have to sleep in a crate because I am so well behaved. My favorite “den” is under my foster dad’s desk. I like to sleep in the bathroom at night – sometimes I even close the door. Every girl needs some quiet time!

If you're looking for a great dog to join your quiet home, I may be just the ticket!
