My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bixby
9 Year Old Male Blue Point Tonkinese

Three years ago Bixby was surrendered to Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue by his elderly owners because they could not handle him. We then adopted Bixby to a young, single woman with no other pets, who was in the military. She says that Bixby has turned into a wonderful cat. He is no longer aggressive and will allow her to brush him and trim his nails without a fuss. She only has to tap his brush on the floor and he will come running. Bixby is a complete cuddle bug and in the winter will sleep all night under the covers with his owner. He is a perfect gentleman when it comes to using his litter box and has never once had an accident. Bixby does not scratch furniture or carpets. He loves his scratching posts and uses them frequently. Bixby loves to play and will even 'stalk and pounce' from around corners. He is a very fun cat and his owner makes sure he gets plenty of play time.

The thing with Bixby is that he meows and calls out a lot of the time. He has done this since he was a kitten. Siamese and their relatives are very vocal cats, but Bixby is beyond what is normal. His owner has taken him to two different Vets in hopes of finding an answer. The first Vet prescribed an anti-anxiety medication, but Bixby would not take the medicine prescribed no matter how his owner served it. During the day while his owner is at work, Bixby sleeps. However, at night, except during the winter, his owner shuts him in the guest bedroom so she can sleep. Bixby's owner feels terrible that he spends all day and then all night alone and then again once a week each month while she travels for work.

Bixby's owner is being transferred with the military in August. She has decided that she would like to place Bixby in a new home. She thinks that in his best interest, that a home with another friendly kitty or dog would be best and that his crying is because he misses a buddy of his own. Bixby has been around two different cat friendly dogs and done very well. Also she thinks that Bixby would be happiest in a home when the owner doesn't travel and is home for Bixby. He has been around the owner's boyfriend and his son and done very well. Because we have a couple of months, we are willing to do a trial adoption with Bixby to make sure the new home is the right placement for him.
